About Me

I have always had a love of performing & joined my local choir the moment I was able.  This lead to dance classes, amateur dramatics, singing lessons &, subsequently, auditions for music college.  I studied vocal performance at graduate & postgraduate level at Trinity College of Music, London but left knowing I had yet to find ‘my voice’ & unsure of the road ahead.

After a break from performing, I auditioned for the Morley Opera School and was subsequently booked by a small opera company based in Leicestershire, Opera Minima.  I performed with them extensively and developed a programme of school & community workshops and also began to direct some of their productions.  To support my education work, I completed an MA in Arts Management & Administration, specialising in Arts Education at Birkbeck, University of London..

Continuing my vocal studies, I signed up for Abingdon Summer School where I met Susan McCulloch, an international soprano & incredible singing teacher, who helped me to retrain as a contralto & unlock my vocal potential.

I began to be cast in character roles including Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro for Longborough Festival Opera  and Little Buttercup in HMS Pinafore for Opera della Luna in 2009.  In 2012 I began my long association with English Touring Opera, performing in numerous main stage & school/family operas, running workshops & directing.

I made my directorial debut in 2011 with Trial by Jury for Opera Minima & have since directed for ETO, Buxton International Festival, Jubilee Opera & HMDT.

In 2014 I joined W11 Opera as Assistant Director & became Artistic Director in 2020, my productions included two online film operas (each 1 hr) - Jukebox (2020)  & It’s Your Move (2021), during the pandemic.

Ignite Music was created in 2022. And I am currently Artistic Director as well as Stage Director for our 2023 UK Tour - Borka: The Adventures of a Goose with no Feathers.

Other projects in 2023 include directing  the SEN opera, Zoo, for ETO, which tours the UK & will be performed at the Luxembourg Philharmonie this summer.  Creating  & leading Mini Mikado workshops & a showcase for The Merry Opera Company at The Corby Cube.
